Recycling brake discs across Lancashire

Many car parts can be recycled, either when these parts have been replaced, or from End of Life Vehicles (ELV’s). Car parts are generally made from high quality metals and metal alloys, which can be reused for a wide range of other purposes in the future, without losing any of the important qualities. Brake discs are one of the most common car parts that can be recycled easily and effectively. But why should you consider recycling brake discs? Well, here at X-Met Metals, we are leading scrap metal experts, and we can collect a range of ferrous and non ferrous waste, as well as batteries, boilers and electronic waste, from across the North West, including Chorley, Rochdale, Salford and Oldham. And this is our guide to everything you should know about brake disc recycling.

What are brake discs?

Brake discs are also known as brake rotors and are often made from cast iron or a carbon composite. These are usually attached to the suspension of the vehicle and are gripped by brake pads held in a brake caliper. The friction between the brake disc and the pads is what brings the car to a halt.

Why should you consider recycling brake discs?

There are a number of reasons why you should consider recycling your brake discs. These include:

  • Great prices- Here at X-Met Metals we offer high prices for brake discs, as well as a range of other scrap car parts. So before you get rid of your ELV completely, why not strip it for parts and make some money back?
  • Bulk buy- Here at X-Met Metals we also buy brake discs in bulk from breakers, mechanics, and garages. This is far more beneficial than simply scrapping the items.
  • Better for the environment- brake discs are made from iron which can easily be recycled and reused, either as more break discs or for something entirely different. The recycling process is much better for the environment than mining new iron, and it means that new items can be made without using additional natural resources.
  • Hassle free process- recycling brake pads with us here at X-Met Metals is a hassle free process. We will come to you, wherever you are and whenever you need us to collect your scrap metal, including car brake pads. We even weigh them and pay for them on site too. We aim to make this process as easy as possible for you, so you can get on with your day.
