What should you do with your electronic waste?

For many companies and businesses electronic waste can be a big problem. From replacing old computer systems, to replacing electrical appliances, any updates, refurbishments, or modernisation can result in a large amount of electrical waste. And disposing of this legally, and ethically, is incredibly important. So, what should you do with your electronic waste? Well, here at X-Met Metals, we offer a professional mobile scrap collection service. As part of this, we collect a range of ferrous and non ferrous waste, as well as boilers and electronic waste. From Wigan to Bolton,  Leigh, Manchester and St Helens, we will travel to collect, and pay you for your waste. Including WEEE waste.

What is WEEE waste?

So, what is WEEE waste? Well, WEEE simply stands for waste electrical and electronic equipment. Essentially, this covers all electrical items and appliances that no longer work, and the electronic waste is split into household WEEE and non household WEEE.

Here at X-Met Metals, we collect all types of WEEE, and offer great prices too.

What should you do with your electronic waste?

So, what should you do with these WEEE items? Well, there are a couple of choices available. These include:

  • Throwing them away- you should never think about throwing out WEEE items. They will end up in landfill sites around the country, and the world, where the electrical components will begin to break down, releasing toxic pollutants in to the earth, and potentially our water sources too. In addition, if you own a company or business, you could even be fined for disposing of your WEEE items irresponsibly.
  • Find a centre that will recycle your WEEE- across the country, there are several places that will recycle your WEEE. Finding these centres directly can be incredibly time consuming and costly. Here at X-Met Metals, we deliver all non-reusable parts of WEEE, to our preferred recycling centre.
  • Take your waste to a scrapyard with all the necessary equipment- some scrapyards will be happy to pay you for your WEEE items, while others might not have the facilities. But finding out which scrap yard to choose can be a difficult and lengthy challenge.
  • Get in touch with us- Here at X-Met Metals, we will arrange a suitable time and location to collect your WEEE items from you. And we will also pay you on the spot too. So you can cash in on your rubbish, without losing time, or money.
